Three findings from these two years
July leads in 2025
Each country's highest monthly value in the 2025 extract is July. Lithuania's 2024 peak was August; Estonia and Latvia peaked in July in both years.
A concentrated summer
June–August accounted for these shares of each country's 2025 monthly sum:
- Estonia: 36.6%
- Latvia: 39.5%
- Lithuania: 33.6%
Higher annual sums
Every country's sum rose between these two years. The calculated changes were 1.1% for Estonia, 6.1% for Latvia, 6.5% for Lithuania. This does not establish a longer-term trend.
Definitions and limits
What the figures measure
A night means a night actually spent by a guest at a tourist accommodation establishment. It is not a count of people or trips. This supply-side series covers hotels, short-stay accommodation and camping/RV parks (NACE I551–I553), with domestic and foreign residents combined.
The charts show Eurostat's observed monthly counts. Annual sums, changes and shares are our calculations. Each year's sum uses its 12 months; annual change is the difference divided by the 2024 sum. Summer share is June–August divided by the same country's 2025 sum. Table shares use two decimal places and the CSV uses four.
The two lines share one zero-based scale within each country. Different countries have separate scales and collection thresholds: Estonia's monthly coverage starts at five bedplaces, while Latvia and Lithuania report no minimum threshold. Country totals are not pooled or ranked. The series do not cover day visitors or every unpaid or unregistered stay.
Source selection and excluded observations
The query uses monthly frequency, total residence, number of nights and combined activity group I551–I553. All 12 months in 2024 and 2025 are present and unflagged for each country in the retained extract. Confidential Estonia 2023 cells and partial 2026 are excluded.
A hotel-only I551 cross-check is excluded because Estonia's national metadata says the corresponding breakdown is unavailable. The combined accommodation series is used here. National metadata should be checked again at the next update.
